Supporting the health and wellbeing of Principals is a core goal for AHISA. Key programs during the biennium were:

Australian Principal Occupational, Health and Wellbeing Survey

AHISA is on advisory board of this important research project. The survey has run nationally every year since 2011 in response to growing concern about principals’ occupational health, safety and wellbeing. Since the project began, approximately 50% of Australia’s 10,000 principals have taken part in any one survey.

Employee Assistance Program
AHISA continues to offer the Employee Assistance Program to members and their families, providing up to six counselling sessions as well as coaching on a range of topics.

Wellbeing videos
In the previous biennium, AHISA partnered with psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg to develop a series of short videos on principal wellbeing, focusing on six topics: mindfulness; sleep; diet and nutrition; exercise; stress management; and managing relationships. Experts in various fields, including psychologist Dr Charlotte Keating, a Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology in Victoria, also contributed to these resources. These videos are now available online.
