Potential reforms to the regulation of nicotine vaping products in
Australia
16 January 2023
Schools are deeply concerned by the speed with
which vaping has been adopted by a significant proportion of young Australians
and by the potential and actual harms to students from nicotine and other toxic
chemicals in vaping products.
AHISA supports the Australian Government’s
intent to tighten regulatory controls of nicotine vaping products (NVPs) to
help protect children and young people. To have the strongest impact on vaping
among children and young people, AHISA recommends in principle that the most
powerful sanctions possible should be applied to the importation and sale of
NVPs and strict restrictions applied to the contents and packaging of NVPs and
other vaping products.
