Inquiry into the Religious Discrimination Bill 2021

AHISA’s submission to the Legislation Committee affirms points made in AHISA’s submission to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights inquiry into the Religious Discrimination Bill 2021, in particular that:
• The Australian Government moves swiftly to establish the office of the Religious Discrimination Commissioner through an amendment to the Australian Human Rights Commission Act 1986; and
• In the interests of social cohesion, the Australian Government delays passage of the Religious Discrimination Bill to allow for it to be considered as part of a review of religious exemptions in other anti-discrimination laws.
