AHISA SUBMISSION

Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts

23 August 2021

Copyright law and the digital transformation of Australian education

Taking into account continued COVID-19 lockdowns, AHISA’s letter to the Minister supported a call by Independent Schools Australia for copyright access reforms to be expedited.
In line with the position of the National Copyright Unit, AHISA urged the Minister to issue an exposure draft of legislation that would support online education delivery.
AHISA also recommended development of a national digital transformation strategy for Australian education, which would provide a context for policy development in regard to copyright and education institutions beyond the immediate impetus of the COVID-19 pandemic.
