An invitation from Chris Ivey, AHISA National Chair

It is with a tremendous sense of anticipation and excitement that I invite you to AHISA’s 2022 Leading, Learning & Caring Conference (LLC2022) in Melbourne.  While COVID-19 succeeded in shifting the Conference from 2020 to 2022, it has also delivered one of the most powerful reasons for us to come together for professional learning and sharing: the unprecedented disruption of how we deliver school education in Australia, and globally.

From my AHISA colleagues, I hear again and again that this disruption has fast-tracked transformation. We will have much to share in April 2022. For school leaders there will be ‘war stories’ that will offer rich insights into crisis management. There will be insights into change management, communications and community engagement. There will be fresh understandings about student engagement and how to engage parents in their children’s learning. There will be new information about the wellbeing of students and their pastoral care. Importantly, there will be the opportunity to learn how our colleagues are implementing these insights to improve outcomes for students. Supporting excellence in school leadership and amplifying leadership impact are key strategic objectives for AHISA, and conferences are a key part of how we achieve them. The LLC conference committee has selected excellent speakers and presenters for us, covering each of the themes of Leading, Learning and Caring within our overarching conference theme of ‘Learning to Grow. Growing to Learn. 2021 has again been a profound year of learning and growth for educators. LLC2022 is an opportunity to take time out of our schools and connect with colleagues from independent schools from around Australia. It will be a time in which we can consider the key elements of education and educational leadership and reinforce both personal and professional relationships with those who share our interest in the importance of autonomous and creative school leadership.  Set against the backdrop of Australia’s most cosmopolitan city, the LLC2022 conference promises to be an unmissable event and I look forward to seeing you there.
